Carbohydrate performance study at Maastricht
University
The study pays 100
euros plus any travel costs.
The purpose of the
study is to examine whether a carbohydrate mouth-rinse improves ~ 1 h time trial
performance. Subjects must
be:
- male, 18-40 yrs old
- male, 18-40 yrs old
- trained, very fit
cyclists (racing or training >100 km/wk; spending 2-3 h on a bike without a
problem)
Subjects will be
asked to visit the sports laboratory 6 times (~1 wk
apart) as follows:
Visit 1: Subject
information and maximal workload test (~1 h time commitment)
Visit 2: 1 h time trial (familiarization test; ~1.5 h time commitment)
Visits 3-6 : 1 h time trial (~1.5 h time commitment)
During visits 3-6 you will randomly receive breakfast before or after the time trial (if you receive breakfast before, you will be asked to arrive at 8.00h).
The time trial is
an approximate 1 h maximal effort. All time-trials
will take place at 10.00 h and you will be finished by 11.30
h. For more information; please contact Naomi Cermak Naomi.cermak@maastrichtuniversity.nl
